History

D & D Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. is celebrating it's 31st Anniversary! Its story is one of true success in the American spirit of the entrepreneur. Ken Dillon a Reno native, learned the trade by working at night loading roofing trucks for his father-in-law at Yancey Company, while attending the University of Nevada.

He would go on to graduate and he opened his own roofing business in 1977. D & D Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. opened with a one room office and a yard in an abandoned dairy barn. Two people worked in the office and five in the field. There was one truck and one asphalt kettle. Reno had several well-established roofing business, and D & D Roofing knew it would not be easy getting a new business started. As it turned out, they were armed with what it would take to make the company a success. Ken's tireless efforts consumed all of his time. His time and hard work has paid off with D & D Roofing now Nevada's leading roofing business.

D & D Roofing added sheet metal operations in 1987 with the acquisition of Gallagher Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning. Gallagher beginnings were in Winnemucca and was one of the oldest, dated back some 40 years with the best equipped custom sheet metal shops in Nevada. D & D Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. is the only roofing contractor in Northern Nevada with full service custom sheet metal shop. Most shops subcontract with separate companies for these services. If there is a problem, that is when the finger pointing starts. With D & D you have only one telephone call to make.

In all, D & D Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. holds seven Contractors Licence in Nevada, California and Utah and obtained an Asbestos Abatement licence in 1989.

D & D Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. expanded to the residential marketplace in 1997, when it acquired the assets of Van Dyne and Sons Roofing.

One of Nevada's oldest, most respected companies, Porter Roofing in Elko, was added to the family in 1998.

Carson City's most respected firm, Don James Roofing Company was acquired in 2002. The company serves the bustling Carson, Dayton, Gardnerville, and Minden area.

D & D Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. opened Dillon Roofing in Portola, CA in 2005, serving Eastern California and Lake Tahoe.

D & D Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. latest location is Dillon Roofing in Susanville, CA .

D & D Roofing has over 25, 000 square-feet of office and warehouse space in Northern Nevada, with a one acre preparation and storage yard. D & D Roofing employs over 250 people and has 70+ full-time company trucks. Sales with will reach $25 million this year at our four locations in Nevada and California.

D & D Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. has been named to the Top One Hundred roofing companies in the United States by RSI (Roofing-Siding insulation) Magazine.
